Frustration... its what's for dinner!

So we are STILL waiting on the NCAA. Its been more than 4 weeks since the waiver was filed and the NCAA says that they only take about two weeks. Ryan's team has their first game (non conference) on November 4. I have found out that if it gets to be 48hrs before their game and the NCAA hasn't made a decision then the case gets bumped to the font of the line. That SHOULD mean we'll have an answer on or before Nov 4.

So, less than a week from now...

The Weekend Is Here!!!

Before I say anything I have to say this: Elizabeth Hasselbeck is a sniveling bitch and I'm SO tired of listening to her drivel. Jesus H Christ that woman would argue with a totem pole! I really do wish Joy or Whoopi would tell her to fuck right the hell off. That would make my freakin' century. Yes, I KNOW I don't have to watch that damn show but I do it just to watch the daily smackdown they give her. I'd love for her to get the Star Jones treatment!

Yay!! I've got so much crap to do but I dont think I'm gonna. I finally traced all the family back to- get this- 1650 on my mom's side and 1605 for my dad's. I was slightly disturbed to find that somewhere about 6 generations back (on my dad's side) a woman married her uncle. Gross. However, since my mom is Amish Mennonite there is TONS of inbreeding there. Seriously inbred because they rarely marry outside their community. My grandmother was the only one in all 8 of her brothers and sisters to marry outside. So, I'm my own cousin... how very southern of me!!!

My mom and I were going through my grandmother's things this week and we came across their war ration stamps! They are perfectly preserved!!! How cool is that!?!?!?!

I have my last epidural of the year next week, thank God. No more for about five months... or longer if I keep doing as well as I have after the last two. I only take Mir@pex for restless leg syndrome and I have a sleeping pill that I is ordered PRN (as needed) but I rarely take it. Its sooooooooo nice not to have that huge ass bag of pills following me around. At one time about 4 years ago I was taking 16 pills a day. No wonder I was gorked out of my mind. I guess that 26 day stint in the hospital motivated me to get to the bottom of what was wrong. I didn't get to the bottom of it at all... no clue what causes the MASSIVE migraines, but I've only been back in the ER once since then, so I'll take it!

Still no word from the NC-frickin-AA. If being patient means they'll give her the waiver, then I'll have the patience of Job. But... well, lets just say Job isn't really my style. Know what I mean?

Alright... so that's it for me... for now I'm off to Starbucks for my coffee!

Just Broke Down Bawling

I've been doing a boatload of research on my family the last few weeks and I've come across more info than I expected. As I've said before, my mother's mother's family is Amish- Menonnite so they are EASY to track because the churches kept records of everything. Her dad's family info isn't so easy. I have one great uncle still living so I gave him a call this morning. He still lives in Council Bluffs, IA and as soon as I heard his accent it was all I could do to keep from crying. It just brought back a flood of memories and it was almost painful holding it in. When I said this is Kristi, he immediately said, "Kristian!!!! How are you doing?" I always liked that he called me by my "real" name but I haven't seen him since my granfather died in 1990 so I guess I thought he'd forget... he didn't. When we got off the phone I just broke down bawling... pathetic, I guess.

I finally had a breath through with my dad's family and have now traced them back to 1605! I even found my great-grandfather's WWI regristation card. Its all starting to run together though... and its a bit overwhelming!

Ahhh... The Weekend

We had a fun weekend, but it was busy... sort of.

On Friday, UTA held their annual Marverick Madness rally where they introduce the mens and womens basketball teams. Here's Ryan waiting to be introduced...

My sister was still trying to get all her crap unpacked so I took my niece with me. She was just perfect the entire night and we didn't even take her back until about 11pm.

Mavs%20Madness%20008.JPG

Anyway, we came home and crashed, then got up EARLY Saturday to get to work. Craig headed out for his daily golf round (per his usual) and I got to work. I scrubbed the SHIT out of my kitchen... and I was disgusted! I took every single thing out of my fridge and freezer and scrubbed it with bleach. Then I started on the outside ot it... omg and THEN I saw all the dog hair that had accumulated under it and I really wanted to puke. After that, I started scrubbing down the walls. When you have teenagers things just seem to end up in places they shouldn't be. Ugh. After that, organized cabinets, did my laundry, changed the sheets... cleaned the living room, both bathrooms and my bedroom. Finally, about 1:30pm I had had enough, so I hit the computer.

I've been researching my family tree and having a ball! My mother's family is Amish so I've been able to trace hers (very easily) back to 1702 when her great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother came over from France. My dad's family is a little trickier.

You see, my dad's parents met because they were... step brother and sister. (I know- ugh) They were already grown (she was 21 and he was 18) when they met because their parents got married to eachother. (My grandmother has been married an astonishing 8 times and my grandfather was married 3 times... and all three women remain very close friends. Only in Texas!) Craig jokes that I have the typical "Southern Family" whose tree doesn't branch enough. Actually, its just the opposite problem... it branches WAY too much. I THINK my parents are the only ones in my dad's family who haven't been divorced. My dad's cousin married his brother's wife after his brother (and then his own wife) passed away. What the hell are these people thinking????

Anyway, I spent about 15 hours this weekend putting alot of that together and searching (for now) in vain for my grandfather's real father. Once I find the REAL George Morris it will make things easier, but for now its driving me nuts.

I also spent TWO HOURS last night cleaning my truck. Good God, it was as bad as the fridge... filthy. I couldn't stand it anymore so I got that taken care of. My hands are killing me because I finally (after 10 years of ALWAYS having nails) took of my solar nails. Jesus, my fingers hurt. I started getting them put on years ago because those damn fake nails hold polish. My nails grow very long and thick but polish doesn't stay. Then, it dawned on me that I stopped getting polish on them about four years ago (only did the pink and whites) so why the hell am I spending my money on that? So they hurt and cleaning my truck last night only irritated them further.

Anyway... I'm off to spend the afternoon with Ryan. We still haven't heard from the NCAA but the reporter from the Star Telegram told me he's about ready to tell the story. What a mess... Ryan would rather not go into it but that bitch at UNT deserves to have to deal with her new recruits knowing what kind of crap their getting if they choose her!

Best Birthday EVER!

There's been so much going on around here and its been crazy. So I told Craig that I didn't want anything for my birthday (especially since he bought me that Tiff@ny bracelet!). Plus, we didn't hear from the NCAA this week so it means yet ANOTHER week of waiting. Ugh

It was a crazy day with lots of running around but I got tons of birthday phone calls and my most favorite is from Jamie (biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttcccccccccccchhhhhhhh!!!) and my special eCard from Christine just made me laugh my butt off! Thank you both!

Anyway, I have this friend, Dawn, who has been my best friend since we were about 8. She grew up here in Crowley, too, and I met her because our parents ran in the same group. She lived about 8 blocks away but in a town this small it only took about 10 minutes to walk over there. Our other friend, Denise, lived next door and we quickly became inseperable after Denise moved here (when we were in 5th grade- but more about her in other posts). While Angie has been a good friend since she moved her, Dawn has been my BEST.

Anyway, when I moved to California back in 98 Dawn and her (now) ex-husband moved to Oklahoma. We stayed close and talked all the time but when their marriage hit the skids, so did she and it wasn't pretty. In fact, she came about thiiiiiiisssss close to cashing in all her chips (if you know what I mean). Anyway, she finally cleaned up and decided, of all things, do join the Army. I lost track of her for a while but about two years after I moved back from California my mom called to tell me that Dawn's dad had died, so I tried to find her.... and did... in Louisiana. Things were crazy for her and I told her I'd call her back in a couple of weeks, but then all that stuff happened with Whiskey and I just spaced it.

About two weeks ago I decided I HAD to find her. I just missed her like crazy and she and I have 35 years of inside jokes that no one else in the whole world gets (I'll try to explain at the bottom of this post). I knew she'd gone to Germany with her new husband but I just couldn't find out where and I finally lost her mom's phone number so I couldn't try her. I tried Reunion, Cl@ssmates... everything. Finally, I found her kids on Myspace and sent a msg. She answered back that she had gotten into town the day before and was in the process of moving back!!! Yay!!! So yesterday I went to her sister's house and we all immediately fell right back into all the old jokes, the old way of doing things... everything. We used to be so much alike that when we both worked for this doctor, our (now) ex-husbands could not tell which one of us answered the phone. (Too bad I don't look like her though!)

So I had her sister snap a pic of us yesterday. I am so happy and can't wait to catch up on all the gossip. This girl's life is crazy! I'll leave it at that!

kris%20n%20dawn.JPG

(So here's an attempt to explain just ONE of our stupid inside "jokes" for lack of a better word. Ok, Denise's mom is named H@nnah Maria Shuba. Her Dad's last name is L@vergne. Her step dad's last name is Martinez- yes, a German married a Frenchman then a Mexican. Anyway, H@nnah's name always made us laugh. I don't know why, but it probably had something to do with the fact that on pretty much every afternoon you could find her sitting in her closet getting sloshed. Really? IN the closet. I swear.

So one day a few years before I moved to Cali (so like 95) Dawn threw a big ol party and we were TRASHED. And I do mean trashed... I think I was drunk for about 3 days. We were just getting started and we were trying to tell Dawn's sister, Stacy, about how we made fun of the name and we turned it into, "Hanna-Maria-Shuba-LaRuba-Lavergne-Martinez. (We always just threw in the LaRuba part to add to it) Without a single moment of hesitation Stacy says, "So why do they call her Denise?" Dawn and I laughed so hard we were literally rolling on the floor and she ended up peeing her pants. That's about the time that Stacy caught on to what she'd said and that just made it funnier...because I guess she just didn't hear us say it was Denise's mom, not Denise. I have no clue why, but that is one of my favorite memories IN MY LIFE. Its stupid, but it was just so fun! I guess you had to be there!

When my phone rang yesterday and I knew it was her I answered with, "Hannah Maria....." only to hear Dawn do the exact same thing. She completes me!!!! haaaaaaaaaaa

My Friends...

ughhh... after watching the debate on Tuesday night I think I'd rather gnaw my own leg off than hear, "my friends" again. God McCain in annoying!! And what was with the "that one" thing? I think he's officially senile. Or just an ass.

October 7, 2008

Strange and Random!!

So I'm sitting here watching the debate and when the last person in the audience asks his question I notice that the man sitting next to him looks VERY familiar. He looks like the husband of someone whose blog I read looks like. No way, right? But I went to her blog just to see and sure enough, its Todd! Wierd stuff!

And now....?

This has been a VERY uneventful weekend. Very. I've been trying to keep my mind of the situation with Ryan and UNT. UTA filed the waiver request with the NCAA about two weeks ago so I'm guessing we'll get the response this week. For the record, I'm not expecting to prevail because TECHNICALLY the NCAA doesn't have a provision for what happened. They have a broad category that this CAN fit under, but even if they did I'm still not expecting to get the waiver. Its all just too messed up. (The general reason Ryan left is because she was discriminated against by the new coach and I won't stand for it. If you're wondering what its about, just think about it. Its girls basketball- I won't go into details) At least, if she does NOT get the waiver, she will still have 4 years of basketball starting next year. Plus, she did get the release from UNT- so she will be able to run track this year. The coaches sound pretty excited about that. If she's not playing basketball I still don't know yet if she'll be doing the indoor AND outdoor seasons of track or just the outdoor. Even without the waiver she is allowed to practice and train with the team at all times so its not like she won't touch a ball. The plan was for her to play basketball and then join the outdoor season of track once ball was over. As a high school student she has already jumped higher than almost every girl in the conference so this should be fun for her. Anyway, we'll know soon about the waiver. (Maybe I don't want to hear it tho!)

Craig took off Thursday just to hang out with me and we spent the day taking our room apart basically, cleaning the hell out of everything and getting rid of all the crap we don't need. And there was LOTS of the crap we don't need. Friday, Saturday and today he has been at the country club from sun up to sun down for a golf tournament that has them playing two rounds a day all three days. He's in hog heaven!!

Friday I hung out with my friend Angie. We've been friends since she moved to Crowley when we were in the 4th grade. Her parents live in the house directly behind me so even when I'm not over there she's over here like we were in middle school. Neither of us has grown up (and don't plan on it anytime soon, either!) However, she's about to step in a big steaming pile of cow shit and really screw up her life. It drives me nuts that she has no back bone what so ever. None. I just don't get it. (More on that another time)

Yesterday I went to my sister's to help her pack. She's moving to a house that is LITERALLY about 100 yards from my front door, so my niece will be RIGHT HERE!! Yay! I can't believe how much crap she has in that place. I'm going to go pick up my niece here in a little bit and take her shopping so that she's out of my sister's hair for a little bit today. She's really just too damn cute! I just love the hell out of her. I'll post a video later that I took of her last week. Oh how she makes me laugh! I bought her a beautiful Christmas dress and shoes the other day and I really can't wait now for the holidays.

Oh yeah, the other reason to shop today... this is the first year in I don't know how long that I haven't finished my Christmas shopping by October 1. Truthfully, I haven't even got HALF of it done... which is really sick when you consider how much I shop! I've just really been way too focused on myself this year. Shocking, right?

My mom is SICK. I mean, reaaaaaaaaaally sick. I'm very worried about her and I'm pissed off that she won't go to the doctor. I mean, SHE'S A NURSE!!! She got a really bad URI and since she's a smoker (has been for about 45 years) she doesn't do well when she gets one. This time it was bad enough that she gave herself a r0cephin injection. R0cephin is bad ass and will usually kick the ass of anything, but quite often for bad infections you need a second shot. She didn't do it so the symptoms came back WORSE. I really think she's got pneumonia and it just scares me for her. She's more than likely got emphysema from all the smoking and she just looks horrible these days. Until about 10 years ago you never would have been able to guess my mom's age. She always looked very young for her age but when my grandfather died it really started taking its toll on her. She'll be 65 on Thursday (and I'll be 42 on Friday... ugh) and I think maybe she looks older than that. I just want her to get over whatever it is she's got.

So that's about it for now. Nothing, as usual, except the rambling words rattling around in my head. Blah. Oh well, at least I get to shop! haaaaaaa
