Whatever!

I'm soooooooooooo frustrated right now with my math class. There are two problems on the test that I just can't figure out. My professor gave us the practice test along with a sheet of answers and another packet that shows exactly how to work the problems out. I can do everything except those two fucking problems. So then craig sat down and showed me a different way of doing them and it sorta makes sense. Here's one of the problems.

Fran Liberto sold a painting that she found at a garage sale to an art dealer. With the $12,000 she got, she invested part at 4% in a certificate of deposit and the rest at 5% in a mutual fund. Her total annual income from the two investments was $515. How much did she invest at each rate?

Uh, yeah. Sure, whatever. I don't give a shit how much she made or how she did it. Sitting here right now I can tell you how to get the answer but 20 minutes from now I won't remember a damn thing.

Whatever

Pain In The Ass

Good Lord! I got an email from Ryan's coach at UNT telling me that before Ryan does her official visit we have to finish registering her at the NCAA Clearinghouse. They just make sure that athletes going to play sports in college have not violated any NCAA eligibility rules and have all their "stuff" done. I thought I'd finished it a year ago, other than her transcripts, but I guess not. So I was up at 5 this morning and got it done.

Even though she's alreadey committed to UNT they want her to come do an official visit. So even though they are less than an hour from our house, they're putting her in a dorm and us in a hotel for the weekend. This oughtta be fun.

That's Gonna Wear You Out!

Well, Tuesday Ryan and I went to Denton to talk to her (future) coaches. Just chit chat. She wanted to pick up some North Texas gear so we did that. Then, she talked to the track coaches. It's official, she'll be doing 2 sports in college! She has agreed, as previously stated, to play for their basketball team starting next year and she will also join their track team!! She is a high jumper so she can jump in their outdoor season but won't be able to the indoor season because much of that is during basketball. Basketball is the official department that her scholarship will come from (designation to outline who has priority if there was ever a conflict) but her monthly stipend will come from BOTH!! YAY!!!

I'm so very proud of her. She'll be 18 in just a little over a week. gah!!!

The Week That Was...

So the last 7 days have been alot different than the last 7 years.

I guess I'll describe it in reverse. Yesterday, Ryan, Kyra and I drove over to her mom and step-dad's house. They were giving Kyra a laptop that her step-dad got from his work. Very nice gesture, but it was also very akward. Kyra really resisted conversation and it pretty much left me and her mom to talk with Ryan commenting here and there. She and I get along fine now so that part of it wasn't akward but I was VERY uncomfortable with Kyra's reaction... especially when they brought out her half sister, Enara. Kyra pretty much acted like she was holding an alien. We all snapped some pictures of her holding the baby, but I guarantee you Kyra didn't say 50 words in the 45 minutes or so that we were there.

As you can see, Kyra isn't too happy about it. On a good note, she has lost almost all of the weight she gained in California. She's eating much healthier.

My neice spent 4 days with us last week and I had a blast. I took her to the park for her first SLIDE. Scared the shit out of her but she laughed at the bottom.

One of the mornings I was keeping her, I popped some corn and sat down to eat some. So I let her try it! She loved it and couldn't get enough.

After all of that, she was pretty pooped out. Ryan was already in my bed for her 'morning nap' so why not put the baby in there.

I started back to school this week and it doesn't totally suck. I skated through nursing school without cracking a book. I'm not exaggerating at all. It was all about paying attention to the lectures and acing practicums and clinicals. To be honest, it wasn't that I was just "that smart," but more that my life was just a mess. Marshall and I had decided to split but making it happen was creating havoc at home. That's not how it's currently going. Craig is so supportive but my nose is in that book alot because I'm scared to death of being wrong. I'm slightly ocd with a side helping of A.D.D. Not the greatest combination. Anyway.

My first test is a week from Thursday. Lovely.
