Great Weekend

So, we had the baby this weekend and took her with us to Ryan's games. She was soooo good! This time she finally let me put her down and then she promptly bonded with Craig. If he or Ryan was holding her and I walked by, she'd wimper and complain until she got my attention but I'd just tell her to stop and she'd then go back to giggling with Craig. Sooo cute!! Between games yesterday we decided to go to W@lM@rt and pass the time. We passed the time to the tune of $133 on bullshit. You gotta love that!

This was Craig and Rusti waiting in line.

Then, when we took her home we were waiting on my sister and the two of them were playing
rusticraig.jpg

Anyone who knows the family situation (as far as my sister is concerned) would NEVER have expected this! This was today at my parents' house.

Then, tonight was Ryan's last AAU basketball game... ever! There is some chance that she'd go back to play a couple of tournaments next year for Rickey, but she's already committed to UNT and not many of the girls who already have a scholarship do it. But Rickey asked so she'll at least keep it in mind. Craig and I have waited for this for a long time, but now that the day is actually here I'm a little bit sad. Not alot said, just a little. I'll be over it tomorrow I think.

Soooooooooooooo, now I'm going to bed. My bed has missed me, I know! Craig left for Boston tonight so Ryan is sleeping in here. Believe it or not, they flew him out there just to play in a golf tournament for CV$. I know, I know!! I can't believe it either. He's thinking he's got it pretty good with his company!

Happy Birthday Kyra!!!

Today is Kyra's 14th birthday!!!! Where has all the time gone???? It seems like just yesterday, I met her for the first time. She's been "mine" since then. But that was 9 years ago... forever ago. My first memory of her is sitting in the restaurant that Craig's parents met us at and she wouldn't stop giggling. She had the most adorable little giggle!!!

We talked to her earlier and she insists that she actually DOES feel older today!! She says she is soooooooooo ready to come home and that she thinks she's overstayed her welcome as far as Michael and Katie are concerned. (They're her cousins) She doesn't come home for a few more days, but we're ready for her now!

Happy Birthday!!

Botanic Gardens Today

I took Ryan and Rusti to the Botanic Gardens this morning for pictures. I'm not happy about the picture quality and I'm not happy that Rusti's little hat kept falling down over her ears because it was too big as a result of me having to buy her a dress that was a sz 18mos. She turned 11mo old today.

This was my favorite picture but once loaded on the computer it was too dark so I had to lighten it... that washed it out. When I printed them at CV$ I was able to manipulate it into a great picture (for me) but I'll have to play with Photo$hop to see if I can do it.

Yesterday, Craig and I went to pick up the baby and I have to say (again) how hopelessly head over heels we are for her!! OMG I love being able to spoil her rotten then send her home (though I admit I'm not sending her home yet).

Craig's company picnic was at Six Flags so we took the baby, Ryan, her best friend Jordan and headed out. We were just going so that we could take the baby on the carousel and were going to let Ryan and Jordan stay. It was SOOOOOOO freakin' hot! It rained on the way out there so it was humid as hell, but it was worth it. She loved it!!

Then, when we got home we were busy playing and cutting up. Woody didn't like that she was getting all the attention so when I was taking pictures, he had to stick his noggin in there!

Today, we're headed to the Botanic Gardens to take some pictures. I bought her the CUTEST dress ever, so I hope the pictures come out ok.

Today's The Day

I've been wide awake since 4am, no clue why. I just took a muscle relaxer so maybe I can go back to sleep for a couple of hours. I'm gonna need the sleep because I'm picking up my niece sometime between now and noon and keeping for for a few days. My sister stopped by last night to show me some new pictures of her and they were SOOO cute, but I bought her the SWEETEST dress you've ever seen when i was at Macy's the other day.

Craig and I are taking her to the park to take some pictures. Ryan and Jordan (her best friend) are goin to Slx Flags today so maybe we'll go out there for a bit, too. We've got the tickets, so why not?

Alright, muscle relaxer is kicking in! I'm off to bed1

It's Getting Out Of Hand

I'll be the first to admit that I've got some tv crushes. Several of them. But my numero uno every summer is Gordon Ramsay of Hell's Kitchen! Finally, someone who bitches people out and enjoys it as much as I do!!! I also have a thing for Dan Karaty on So You Think You Can Dance, but I'm not into short guys so i can only look at his face!!

I guess once of these days I'll list them all. For now, it's too many!

I'm picking up my niece Saturday morning and then we're headed to the Botanic Gardens to take some pictures. I bought her a new dress aat Macy's and I can't WAIT to see it on her.

Snatch On The Highway. Is That Roadkill?

They were having sex. On they highway. Naked. While driving.

Our most recent trip involved going to play in a tournament in Houston (4 hrs away) and leaving there and driving straight to Atlanta (12hrs away) for the next two tournaments. So we're cruising through Alabama about 3am and see a pretty bad wreck. I made Craig stop since there were no emergency personnel on the scene. It was a pretty new F ord E xplorer that had rolled over. As I walked up to the vehicle I could see another car's headlights about 50 yards away, down the slight embankment and into the trees. There were at least 4 people standing there and I asked if anyone was hurt. They told me that there was someone still in the overturned truck. As I approached I noticed beer bottles littering the area and some still in the back of the e xplorer.

wreck.jpg

I leaned in and noticed that the woman laying there was totally nude. I mean, not a stitch of clothing on her, but her pants were laying on the street.

pants.jpg

As I was trying to get her vitals, a man leaned in and kept asking if she was ok. He was rather frantic and the stench of alcohol was like a cloud around him. I asked him if he knew her and he said her name was Amanda something or other. He stated right off the bat that he's been drinking. I told him he needed to be quiet and quit saying that. I told him not to volunteer that information, but not to lie if the police asked. I knew it wouldn't be an issue because this guy was CLEARLY impaired. I eventually asked him to step away because I couldn't do anything with him hovering.

I checked the woman's vitals and she appeared ok except for a cut near the knee of her right leg. I asked her a few questions and she sort of moaned the answer. I don't believe her lack of clarity was the result of an injury, but rather from alcohol or drugs (though I admittedly don't have the pedigree to state that with asbolute certainty. Just my nursing school stuff.).

I then asked about the car down the embankment and they said it was a black woman inside and that she'd started walking down the freeway. I didn't know it at the time but when she walked by our car Craig got out and followed her. By the time the police got there, they'd gone about two miles down the freeway. Craig said she kept saying something about not having anything to do with the wreck and seemed really out of it. The man driving the truck said she was sitting still when he hit her.

By now, the cops cuffed and stuffed the driver. No surprise, really. (The picture is really bad because it was soooooooo dark and my settings on the camera weren't right so I had to lighten it so it clearly showed what happened).

cuffnstuff1.jpg

Back to the naked woman. By this time, Ryan had gotten out of the car and came over to where I was. As I was explaining to her what had happened we turned and looked at the truck. The woman's snatch was RIGHT THERE. Her head was on the passenger side but her feet were at the driver's side and she was laying there on her back with her knees bent. Trust me, we saw everything we needed to see!! Two women who were on the scene, Daphne and Donnie, said that they pulled up just afterward but the two guys on the scene said they saw it all happen. I'm putting all this on here in case I need to remember this later.

I did show restraint and not photograph the snatch. Eww. So disgusting!

We're FINALLY Back Home

My God, this has been the longest trip of my life. After four days in Houston we headed to Atlanta for 10 days. Ryan is more beat up than I've ever seen her. Our team played in the exhibition bracket for the last tournament and that is the toughest. With about 6 minutes remaining in the last game yesterday she took an elbow to the nose that smashed her nose, sending blood EVeRYWHERe. The trainer put ice on it immediately but it was bleeding so bad it bled right through the towel. She also tore some tendon around her thumb so the whole pad in her palm is bruised as hell. Here are just a few pics from the tournament. I'll blog more later. I'll have to remind myself to blog about the REALLY bad wreck we saw. When we stopped to help and I reached into the car to check the lady's vitals... she was naked. More on that later1

I look old as hell here, but Ryan and I were just laying there so she snapped a picture of us.

Here is some of the bruising on her hand. It's gross

Here is some good defense from her

Here she is right after the nose thing happened. She's still crying and the blood had started soaking through the second towel. I know, nice of me to make sure to get the picture, right?
nose.jpg

Here is her nose today. The bruising is creeping up the right side of her nose and has slightly started on the left side.
nose%20today.jpg

Here, she made a great offensive move to get into position for this shot but she was defended brilliantly from behind. She drew the foul and made the free throws

Houston, we have a problem

Good grief, we are stinking it up in Houston. We're playing at Cy-Fair High School but there's nothing FAIR about it. The refs are more worried about coming and talking to Mark Aguirre than ref'in the game. I guess they don't notice that HE IS THERE WATCHING HIS DAUGHTER play. She's playing on Ryan's team again this year. Somehow, they've ended up playing for the Lubbock Lady Hawks and they're a pretty good team. Last night, we played the top seed in the tournament and lost by 5. Today, lost by 5. SUCKS.

Just before the end of the game Craig got a message that one of his guys was killed in an accident yesterday and that's all we know. Craig talked to him just before the end of the day so its just shocked the shit out of him. He said the kid is only 25 or so years old and has a 1yr old and a 3yr old. How awful for his family. Terribly terribly sad.

We play at 7 tonight. Maybe it'll go better than the last two. There are a SHITload of college coaches here watching but at least we don't have to worry about that anymore. Ryan's (college) coach has watched both of her games though.

Ryan Commits To UNT

Yesterday, Craig, Ryan and I headed to Denton so that Ryan could tell the coaches she's committing to UNT. She was really excited and honestly, so are we. This is great for her and we can't wait. She joked with the coaches about using her name. (Her letter jacket says Lil Green on the back and she told them she was going from Lil Green to Mean Green (the nickname of the UNT mascot)

This is Ryan standing between head coach, Tina Slinker and assistant coach, Sean Weibling.

Then, this morning, the Dallas Morning News had this article in it.

I guess I could have posted the link, but this is easier!

Today Is The Day

Ryan and I will be picking up Craig at his office downtown at about 10:30 this morning. She has FINALLY made up her mind and chose a school. So after we pick up Craig we're driving to Denton and meeting with the coach. She doesn't know that Ryan is going to commit today, she just thinks that Craig and I have some questions.

I'm really proud of Ryan! I love that it matters to her that Craig is there when she does it, as he has been her staunchest supporter all along.

This doesn't change the fact that we'll still be spending a small fortune in the next 3 weeks, but it's nice knowing we've nailed this down!

June 07 in pictures... mostly

I haven't posted any pictures that I'd taken this month and they were starting to pile up on my camera so I figured it was time to file them away.

As you may or may not know, Craig's company (Cart$r and Burge$$) paid for he and I (along with a few others and their wives) to go to Rhode Island for the CV$ Charity Golf Classic. (Craig handles all the CVS NEW stores that arent proto-types) We had a wonderful time!

This is the president of CV$, Roger Staubach (former Dallas Cowboys quarterback) and Lee Trevino.

Ryan Staubach trevino.jpg

After they stopped to sign autographs, Craig and I struck up a conversation with Staubach. Staubach Realty does all the property acquisition for CVS, so Staubach noticed that Craig's hat and shirt said C&B and they started talking about that. Then, I asked about his NASCAR team (he co-owns Hall of Fame Racing with fellow former Dallas quarterback, Troy Aikman)

Staubach Craig.jpg

So this weekend I decided to keep my niece and give my sister a much needed break. She's never had two nights in a row to herself and she's really busting her ass to give her daughter a good life. Yesterday morning when my niece woke up and got her out of the crib I have here and brought her into my bedroom. After she ate, she was noticeably tired so I rocked her for all of 2 minutes and she was OUT. Craig was still asleep so I just put her in the bed with him so I could read for a while.

June07 037.jpg

The wife of the CEO from Craig's company sent me a little dress she made for my niece. You can't see the embroidery done on the front of the dres, but here it is. She takes antique pillow cases and makes them.

June07 046.jpg

We went to the Parks Mall in Arlington where Uncle Craig was smitten enough to buy her pretty much anything she wanted. Then, we were off to the Spaghetti Warehous to chow down on pasta.

After we got home I could tell she was getting irritated because she's teething. I'd forgotten to put her teething ring in the freezer so I got out some pickles from Cousins. They're cut thick like brean and butter pickles but they're dill. I was worried that she'd get frustrated by the taste but she loved it. We sat on my bed for quite a while like this.
June07 038.jpg

Then, Ryan came in and was cutting up with us. She'd taken several pictures of herself (shocking, I know!) and on this one, I threw a pickle in her mouth right as the camera took the pic.

June07 040.jpg

This was our last weekend home for two and a half weeks. We're headed to Houston this weekend and then straight to Atlanta for two weeks without coming home in between. Then, her last two tournaments will be in Dallas at the end of the month.

She is planning on going to see the coach at UNT tomorrow or Tuesday, whichever day Craig can go with us, to give her verbal commitment to play basketball for them starting next year. We're very excited about it and I'm quite proud that she is so intent on including Craig in this. He has supported her unconditionally throughout her AAU career, even when we were in the middle of a custody dispute with his exwife that cost us THOUSANDS (we won, thank God) and we didn't really have the extra thousands that it costs for her to play. He's been so good for Austin and Ryan and that just makes me love him all the more. We've been extraordinaraily blessed to have him in our lives.

All right, that concludes my post regarding June of 2007. Peace out.
