Oh NO She Di N't

I really wanted to post about prom but OMG a girl on Ryan's team created a little bit of a mess today and I HAVE to get this out so prom pics are at the bottom of this post! Today's game was a success on many levels, but it was a truly eye opening moment for Craig and I.

I stated in a previous post that a few of the girls Ryan plays with are ranked VERY high nationally. (also Destini Hughes, Cokie Roberts to name a couple) Well, today one of them decided to make an ass of herself in a big way. We've seen her try it with her school team (Ft. Worth Dunbar, who has won the Texas State 4A Championship twice-including this year- in the last 3 years. She was also the Texas State 4A MVP) but it was a whole new level today.

Brook got pissed off at the coach during the first half of the game. The coach got on her for not hustling and pulled her out very quickly. She turned to Mud (Coach Jackson, who owns DFW El!te) and said, "You better get this n!gga off me!" (Ryan plays with an almost entirely black team so we hear that word alot... but still!!! I couldn't believe it) When Mud told her that she needed to listen to the coach, she looked at the coach and said, "I don't give respect until I get respect! Do you know who I AM?" At which point the coach said, do you know who IIIIIIIIIIII am? Let me introduce myself. I'm your COACH! Straighten up or your ass will sit in the f*#@ing chair for the whole game." (Yes, he said the "F" word- again, its not like we don't hear that from some of the kids)

Let me just say that she never stepped foot on the court again. I was FLOORED! If my child spoke to someone that way I would yank her off the court and and fast! I would NOT tolerate that. Ryan had prom tonight so she wasn't there for the 2nd game but I'm DYING to know what happened.

It's just sooo disheartening to watch because this girl has SO much talent but she's lazy and she treats everyone around her like they are lucky to be in her presence. We've heard her cuss her teammates out during games.. while they are ON THE COURT. She doesn't hustle or even appear to put in any effort and she's still SO good. It's just a shame. This is the first year that she and Ryan are playing on the same team so we've only witnessed things from a distance, but it doesn't look as if our impression of her was wrong. (Side note: This girl has been able to SLAM the ball since 8th grade, though she's never been able to do it in a game)

As for the game, Ryan did well. They've got her playing the 3 (shooting guard) and she did pretty well, especially since she's never played that position. She had a good attitude about it and this will really help her for school basketball next year. They have two games tomorrow, but I don't know if I'm going to go or not. I've got so much to try and catch up because I'm still behind from being in the hospital.

I can't wait to see the prom pictures that the photographers took!
Here is one at the house before they left.

Ryan n Jeremy 010.jpg

Ryan and her volleyball coach. You can't miss the peace signs being held over their heads. Ryan thought it was funny... uh, ok.

Ryan n Jeremy 025.jpg

Damnit!

I can't believe I woke up at 4am. This is setting me up to be miserable all day! It totally sucks. We aren't leaving until around 10:30 this morning so maybe I can convince my body to sleep some more instead of screaming for coffee.

About a week or so ago I mentioned Lucia Micarelli, the violinist that rocked the house during the Josh Groban concert. Take a listen. If you don't recognize the music at first, don't panick. At about the halfway point it you will. I promise. (Led Zeppelin's Kashmir)

The tournament this weekend is in Royce City... 80 miles from here! But since this is the first time that her and Destini are playing with DFW Elite I really don't want to miss it. This team has a couple of All American players on it- very exciting. (Destini Hughes, Brooklyn Pope) But they don't play the same position as Ryan. Ryan plays a 4 or 5 (forward or post) while Destini and Brooklyn are both guards, however either one of them can play ANYwhere on the court.

I wish Vance was still our coach but Maques is coaching it. His daughter is an All American and The University of Texas (Tiffany Jackson) and he owns DFW Elite. The funniest part of this team is that Ryan is the only white girl on it. She looks SO out of place! I'm really curious to see how much playing time she'll get.

Our travel schedule this year is CRAZY! We are all over the nation this year. Virginia second week in APril, Tennessee first week of May, Nike Showdown in Ohio for Labor Day weekend, Home tournament mid June, Tallahassee that next weekend... then it gets REALLY crazy. Each week of July we are in a different city across the nation. First is Houston (6-8), second week Atlanta (10-12), third Chicago (13-15), fourth Birmingham (22-25), fifth Home for All American camp at SMU (26-27), 6th is Nike Nationals in Augusta (28-31). So as you can see it's going to be a madhouse. We may send Ryan to a couple of these while we stay home. Not too sure yet.

I don't like missing her games... especially this year since its her last summer of doing this. Next summer will only be spent doing conditioning and summer school at whichever college she chooses. The colleges like them to do summer school so that they can get a jump on classes and to sort of get a feel for the classes and stuff BEFORE they get the added pressure of heavy travel. If she chooses one of the out of state universities I'll probably go nuts trying to find ways to watch her.

So it's now 6:03am. Maybe I can go back to sleep now.

THIS is drama!

Good God, you'd think that there has never been a few days of thunderstorms around these parts! Seriously, I wish I could share with you how ridiculously overblown some of these newcasts are. It's comical! Craig and I have been sitting here just laughing our asses off at how these are going. You'd think it's Katrina, only in North Texas!

Premonition was good. Not great, but kind of a neat story.

Date Night...

... or whatever you want to call it. Craig just called me and asked if I wanted to go to a movie with him tonight, so we're going to see Premonition. I think it looks like a great movie and slightly creepy, but not scary or Craig won't see it. I have however, pinned him down to taking me to see Disturbia on April 13th, so this ought to be fun. Craig can't stand scary movies but I LOVE them. My kids do, too. I took them to see scary movies even when they were fairly young, so now they're bigger scary movie fans than me.

I layed around this morning and watched Of Mice and Men. I've seen it a billion times but I'd really forgotten how good John Malchovich is in it. Truly a magnificent story and a movie that was almost as good as the book. I don't know why I'm on such a movie kick lately. Normally it's alllllll books for me... about 3 or 4 a week, but the last two weeks I've tried and just can't get into the story... on two different books. I know my vision is still a bit hazy around the edges but jeeeeeez, normally even that doesn't matter. Ah well, se la vie!

This Weekend

Ryan n Rusti 007.jpg

When Ryan got home yesterday I was taking 3 billion pictures of my niece. However when I loaded those pics onto my computer I found this! I guess she wanted to see herself! Her face is sooo red in this picture from track practice everyday after school. I think she looks so young in this picture (she always does without makeup on) but my little girl will be 18 in September! Gah!

Well, I don't know what's up but Ryan walked into my room about an hour and a half ago and told me that she is NOT going to prom. When I asked why she just said that her boyfriend was being "... an asshole." She was really pissed so I just let it go. She's got her dress so if she decides to go she can; if she doesn't... oh well.

Tomorrow is the track meet, then Saturday and Sunday she has a basketball tournament. If she doesn't go to prom Saturday evening it will certainly make things easier this weekend.

Kyra's choir thing was a success! They won sweepstakes for two events and 3 place for another, so she is happy.

I'm SO excited about the new Showt!me miniseries The Tudors. It starts on Sunday and it's supposed to amazing to watch. We shall see. Gnight!

Funny Funny

Ok, I was bored because Craig had to go do the video presentation at the boys basketball banquet so I was scanning some of my favorite blogs. Clayton has one of the funniest things EVER. You must go HERE and see it! Watch the whole thing... I swear it's worth it!

So it reminded me that I had a song in my music file with the Muppets "rapping" to an old NWA (Niggas With Attitude) song. Sooooooooo funny. I don't know if I'll be able to upload it or not but I'l try to here in a bit.

Another day in the Neighborhood

Craig came in last night about 9:45 or 10. My medicine had kicked in and I was soooo tired, but I tried to stay awake for a little bit because I wanted to talk to him about his trip. But it was no use, I kept fading off to sleep. I remember when he came to bed though. He was so sweet and kept touching my face and brushing stray hairs out of my eyes. This morning he told me I had a scowl on my face that he kept trying to brush away! LOL

This morning I've been watching a movie called A Life Unfinished. It's a great movie, though I really can't stand Jennifer Lopez. Robert Redford is, as always, amazing. Morgan Freeman, too. The bear was spectacular; absolutely majestic. It made me cry. It's just a great story, and I highly recommend it.

Kyra was so cute this morning when I took her to school. She had to be there at 6:45 so they could leave for the choir contest. The skirt was adorable on her and she was pretty excited. I'm hoping they do well!

It's about to come a frog floater here! I love thunderstorms so I can hardly wait... only another hour or so if it doesn't crap out!

March 28, 2007

I FINALLY woke up. I was awake this morning at 6am because Ryan slept in my bed last night (since Craig is traveling) and she had to be at school early to lift weights. I was back asleep in no time and didn't wake up until 11am! Oh, it felt so good to sleep!

There is certainly good news on the TV front! Hell's Kitchen is starting on June 4th this year, three weeks earlier than planned! Yeah!

I've GOT to get to Star&ucks for some coffee and a lemon crumb bar. I must!! Then its off to shop. Kyra needs a new skirt for her choir thingy tomorrow and I'm going to look for some cute stuff for her. She's been growing like a weed so the last couple of months I've been replacing her stuff over and over. She likes stuff from Old Navy or Kohl's so I get out of there for about $100 or so for a few outfits. You can't really beat that!

She's excited about tomorrow and it's so cute! When she gets wound up its fun to just sit back and watch her spin. She'll talk 90-0, going into ever minute detail. I'm crossing my fingers that she'll do well.

I'm off to shop!
(2pm edit)

I got the cutest skirt for Kyra! I can't wait to see it on her. I crapped out on serious shopping. My sister called and wants to borrow my truck tonight and that will mean I'll have the baby for a while, so I wanted to get home and get stuff done so that I won't have to do it later and I can enjoy the baby!

Somebody Help Him, PLEASE!

Good God! What the FUCK is Sanjaya thinking? Is this his way of making SURE he gets the boot this week? Whatever caused it, it needs to be rectified NOW.

Ryan was able to jump today in track practice. It's the first time she's jumped in two weeks because she sprained her ankle during basketball practice so we weren't sure she'd be able to since it's her "jump" foot (the one she takes off from). I don't know that she'll do well this weekend even though this is her home track meet. She jumped 5'8 last year and won this meet but I don't think she'll do it this year, to be honest. Maybe I should think more positive but I'm just being realistic about it... I think. She has Texas Relays next weekend so she's really wanting her ankle to hold up for at LEAST that long because she's been trying to get there for 3 years.

Kyra has a choir constest Thursday and she thinks she'll do well. She was crushed last year when she only finished middle of the pack. I feel so bad for her. She's being picked on at school AGAIN, so I guess I'm going to go up there tomorrow. It's never ending. She's just SO awkward and to be honest she's a little strange, but she's got a heart of gold. She says things that are so out of place and she always seems like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. I don't know if it's the cerebral palsey or what but the kids find weaknesses SO fast and they've definitely found hers. I think life for her will be so much better after Ryan is off at college. I say that all the time, but its so true.

Austin is still just being Austin. I feel sort of bad for him too right now, but not for the same type of reasons. He's got a new girlfriend who is SO cute! He really seems to like her alot and he's back to changing clothes 2 or 3 times before he leaves and gelling his hair. He keeps his hair really short so I'm not sure why he thinks he needs it but it does look cute. (He even got his eyebrows waxed the other day!!)

Craig's in New Orleans today and heads to Baton Rouge tomorrow. He sounded exhausted when I talked to him just a little bit ago but he LOVES what he does and he gets SO much out of it. He's getting to be a caddy at the Colonial Golf Tournament's Pro Am in May, and he's totally excited about it. I thought it seemed a little cheesey but he said it's a big deal, so what do I know? I hate golf, I really do. But he loves it so... yeah, he loves it. He's back to playing every week again and he's really happy about that. I support him because it makes him happy, but other than that I could care less. It may sound shitty, but I don't mean it that way.

He's been sending me such sweet messages during the day for the last couple of weeks. Its just really nice to get stuff like that. I'm not big on flowers, except for every once in a while. It just doesn't do anything for me. A couple of times a year is more than enough and if he's going to do it I don't care for them unless they're my favorite. He never forgets. He says he can tell what type of mood I'm in by what music I'm listening to. He isn't THAT easy to read, but his eyes give everything away. I love his eyes. Love, love, LOVE them. And him. I'm a very lucky girl.

And that's it for now. I'm really tired and I have a pain in my right side. I don't know if that's any indication about how high (or hopefully low) my liver enzymes are or not, but I'm hoping for "not." I have to have a blood test either tomorrow or Friday because I go back to the doctor Wednesday (???) for the first time since I got out of the hospital. Not really excited about it at all. I also have an appt with my pain management doc for the same day for another round of epidural injections. Oh Joy!

Dread

Good God, I dread next weekend. Ryan has a tournament all the way out in freakin' Royce City. Way the hell out there... almost 2 hours away and she plays there Friday, Saturday AND Sunday. To top that off, she has a track meet on Friday and prom on Saturday night so she'll have to leave early to get her hair done and get her nails done. What a mess!

We talked to her Saturday night about commitments and what she wants to do. She said she wants to go to Malachi Relays this weekend (that's Crowley ISD's track meet) and then Texas Relays the week after (at the University of Texas). She said her ankle isn't healthy enough, in her opinion, to win district and if she doesn't that would end the track season for her. (Actually, she CAN take 2nd and still keep going) But we are putting ALOT of money into the new basketball team she's on and she HAS to be there or one of the other girls will take her spot.

They go to Virginia in 3 weeks and as it stands Craig and I are staying home this time because of prior commitments. Austin's thing is that Monday so it'll be easier to just be home, though I've been bugging Craig to go ahead and go. It's just so hectic this time of year, but once track season is over it'll be all basketball and that's what we like!

She won! She won!!

Last night was the basketball banquet for the school team. We (mostly Craig this year) put together the video presentation and it turned out pretty good. I think we did better last year but we had limited time this year.

We also weren't really looking forward to it because of all the turmoil this year. Ryan was nominated (according to her coach) for District MVP, Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the year- along with First Team All District (which she got last year and her Freshman year, too) but because of that situation with her grade (still furious about that) she was relegated to Second Team All District (still great). At the end of the banquet the coach stood up and announced that the team was ranked for the first time EVER at the end of the season. We're ranked 6th in the state for 4A schools. Coach Neff also won Coach of the Year, so I guess he's doing something right!

After all of that schtuffff he got pretty choked up and started talking about "this girl" is only the 2nd girl from Crowley High School ever to receive this honor. He said she'd made the All Region Team. MASSIVE. That is really a big deal. We assumed it was Megan, since she was the only one to get First Team All District this year- then he said it was Ryan! I damn near dropped to the floor. I turned and looked at Craig, who looked insanely proud (soooo cute!) and he said, "It was posted on TABC on Monday when the rankings came out." So he's known for three days and never said a word!

Anyway, Ryan also won the ball for the most rebounds in the season- even with missing those 6 games. I know it's not cool to brag, but I'm just reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy proud of her right now.

So here's Ryan with her coach.

OM! MY! GOD!

I feel like T total shit this morning, but it very well might be worth it. I have NEVER seen anything last night's concert. Josh Groban's voice has always been really good (since I heard him 7 years ago) but I haven't heard him live in almost 3 years... we were blown away!

Lucia Micarelli busted out some "Who" music on the violin. (Last time it was Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody)

I won't go into details because quite honestly I can't do it justice but I did want to include at least one picture. We were in the front row of the upper balcony at the Amer!can A!irline's Center so we had great seats. This is just one look at the stage, but it constantly morphed into new looks throughout the show. Fab-U-Fricken-lous!

Another Stint at the Hospital

Well, I didn't catch my migraine on time Wednesday and once again I ended up in the hospital for days. It came out of NOwhere. I felt fine, then I started getting slightly light headed and I could tell a migraine was screaming through there. I went to soak in the bathtub and next thing I know my arm is sliced to bits (19 stitches) and they gave me two shots of dilaudid w/ phenergan. I was back home by around 3am. Evidently, I got out of bed and went into the livingroom where I fell back to sleep (sitting indian style) with my forehead all the way down on the floor. That's not all that uncommon for me but usually that happens after I've taken an Amb!en and tried to fight it (for some stupid reason). Craig will see me doing that and tell me to lay back so I'm rarely that way for more than just a few minutes. This time it was a couple of hours.

When I woke up Thursday morning I couldn't move without throwing up. Craig was stuck in a meeting so my Dad came to get me. Poor thing, he gags so easy but he soldiered on!! Come to find out my liver was "having issues" processing some of the meds they'd given me. They weren't sure if if was going to be an acute or chronic problem but luckily it was acute and my liver enzymes were FAR better on Sunday, so I managed to convince them to let me come home. (Your liver enzymes should be in the 20's, but mine were in the 800's on Thursday, the 300's on Saturday and the 100's on Sunday. They think they'll be normal by midweek)

We're supposed to go to the Josh Groban Concert tonight. Craig REALLY doesn't want me to go. I AM GOING, damnit!

March 13, 2007

You Bet Your Bippy

That was something my dad would always say when I was little. No big thing...

But speaking of betting, did you know that there is a website on which you can place bets as to whether Heather Mills' leg will fall off while dancing on Dancing With the Stars? I have not been a fan of the show in the past but you can bet your ass (as they say) that I WILL be watching this year... at least as long as she's on it. My Grandfather had a wooden leg because when he was 10 he and his friends were hopping a train and he slipped and fell under it. We always asked him to let us see it but he'd never show us. My mom says she saw it several times when she was a kid and it just wasn't a big deal. WHAT?

Soooooooo, the only other news is that Ryan DID make the top team at DFW Elite (the Gold team) but she won't be with them in Houston this weekend for a variety of reasons. The first of which is her dad is taking she and Austin with him to the "Larry the Cable Guy" concert in Dallas on Saturday. Craig and I are picking his best friend, Kevin, up at the airport and we're all heading to Austin to watch his neice (Allison Hightower) play in the NCAA tournament. She's a Freshman on LSU and we're really excited to get down there!

That's all for now!

Spring Break Begins

So DeMarcus has been here for just over 24 hours and I'm pretty sure I've already cooked more than I have in the last month entirely.

He got up and took Ryan to track practice this morning. Thank God because my Amb!en CR kicked my ass last night. I used to be on 6.25mg but now I'm on the 12.5. Normally it just sort of makes me a little bit sleepy but last night I went to bed early and slept like a rock. We opened the windows yesterday evening and at the time it was a bit warm, but I turned on the A/C and it was blowing hot air. (Repairmen came today and it's right as rain now) That ALWAYS makes me sleep harder and I wake up with a headache. Today is no different.

For the first time EVER I can not WAIT for Dancing with the Stars. There is actually a website out there where you can bet on whether or not Heather Mills will lose her leg!!! I am SO on that! I can't WAIT!!! I know, I know!! It sounds cruel but there's a back story. See, my mother's father got his leg cut off by a train (he tried to jump on it) when he was 10, so his whole life he had a "wooden leg." (No, it wasn't really wooden, at least not by the time we came around) We ALWAYS asked him to let us see his leg without it (it was amputated just below the knee) but he never would. My mom remembers having seen it when she was a little girl but not very often.)
SOOOOOOOOOOO, although I will not be actually placing bets on the website, you can bet your ass Craig and I will be betting week to week on whether or not that sucker's gonna flyyyyyyyyy. Take off! Yay! I can't wait!

Decisisons Decisions

Today Craig took Ryan to practice in Dallas. Her coach is (at least temporarily) combining with DFW Elite. This is a good thing (because they're are VERY well known and the Adidas National Champions) and a bad thing (because the team has a mostly returning roster so she'll have to beat out their Center and Forward.

To top that off she is going to have to miss some track events to be with this team in upcoming tournaments (we just found out they are supposed to be in Houston this weekend). This weekend is just the first of the events and it could even mean leaving the Regional Track meet early. I don't like having to make decisions like this. She is going to be pissed off either way.
(edit: I just talked to Ryan and she knows that this team will mean the loss of SOME of her track time. And though she IS getting alot of college coaches sending her letters for TRACK, she knows that she is going to college for BASKETBALL so she's going to have to sacrifice some of her track time). The good news is that next summer she won't play AAU ball if she has committed to a school (she will commit sometime this fall. Hopefully EARLY in the fall) so her track season her senior year will be free to do ONLY track.

And so it begins...

But here's a supercute picture of my neice the other day in my car. She looks so serious! (I'm sure she didn't want to leave Auntie Kristi!!!! LOL)

Wild Hogs

Tonight, a group of managers at Carter & Burgess got together and took their wives out. We saw the movie Wild Hogs and I have to tell you we laughed basically from start to finish. Sometimes you were still laughing at what happened so you miss the first part of yet another laugh. It was outrageoud. Then, they all drug us to ST@rbucks where we sipped on our tea and coffee.

The movie was good enough that I'm considering taking the kids this week during Spring Break!

Yes, it was that good. GO. SEE. IT!!!!!

March 9, 2007

Sadness All Around

I'm soooooooooo bummed about the latest info in the Van Halen saga. So a couple of months ago Van Halen announced they were regrouping with front man David Lee Roth. YAYYY!!! They gave bass guitar player Michael Anthony the boot and had hired Eddie Van Halen's 13 year old son, Wolfgang, for the job. Supposedly this kid is the shit. But then again, who wouldn't be with Eddie Van Halen as a mentor?

Now, the whole gig is in doubt as Eddie enters rehab. For what, we don't know. He's not even expected to appear Monday as Van Halen is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Strangely enough, Michael Anthony and the Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar- who used to front the band, ARE expected. WTF?

I was SOOOOOOOO excited about them getting back together because Craig agreed to go to their concert with me. Me and my sister went back in the early 90's and that was the best freakin concert I've ever been to, with the exception of Michael Jackson. Hey, don't knock him. He might be fucked up but that man KNOWS how to perform.

I've been to approximately 30 concerts. Foreigner, Journey, Sammy Hagar(with Van Halen and without), Ted Nugent, Loverboy (6 times), Van Halen, AC/DC, Def Lepard, Styx, Josh Groban, .38 Special, Toto, Joan Jett, Michael Jackson, Ty Herndon (four times), George Strait, Depeche Mode, Boston (their lead singer was found dead Friday), Pantera, Aerosmith... I can't think of any more.

A week from Monday I'm taking Ryan and my mom to the Josh Groban concert. I'm totally excited about that. This will be my 2nd JG concert and he puts on a pretty good show. I'll love going to this concert because I think it's cool that my mom and my daughter are going but I'd really love it if it was Van Halen instead. =(

Working For The Weekend

Craig came home from work unexpectedly early and took me to dinner (Mexican Inn- yummy!). For some reason, we're both really tired today so I want to get in bed early so we'll be able to enjoy tomorrow.

Ryan's events at the track meet start at 9am but the meet is way the hell away from us. Hopefully, she'll do well again. She cleared 5'4 last week, but won the meet in spite of not clearing 5'6 because she didn't have any misses until she hit 5'6. She cleared 5'8 last year and had one of the best jumps in the state last year (she took 4th at the Texas State meet)

Then tomorrow night all of the project managers on Craig's floor are taking their wives out to a very casual evening ending with going to see the movie Wild Hogs. This worked out well for me because I really wanted to see that movie.

Then on Sunday DeMarcus comes into town. We bought him a ticket to come home for Spring Break and I can't wait. He's staying here for the first two days and the last two days and I think he's staying with his brother for the days in between. I'm really looking forward to seeing him. I haven't seen him since we put him on a train to go back to ORU after Christmas. He's now going to a university in Missouri. Weirdly enough, its cheaper for him to fly home from Missouri than Oklahoma.

Spring Break means having all the kids home. I'm not looking forward to that, though it might be better because there seems to be much less fighting between Ryan and Kyra, though Kyra has been in constant trouble because she can't seem to follow a SINGLE rule. She's at that age (13) where she's just not going to do anything you want her to. Ryan, for whatever reason, hasn't been pissing me off nearly as much. She's been doing, for the most part, what I ask. She always does what Craig asks so that equates to a pretty uneventful day with her.

Now, I'm going to go soak in the tub and hit the sheets early.

I Will Survive

OMG Could Survivor be any harder to watch? The Moto tribe might be just a bit too cocky for my tastes and Stacy and Lisi are total bitches. I wish tonight was a double elimination and they'd both get booted off. Snobby Stacy is by far the worst. I want that bitch to take a machete to the back (figuratively, of course!). They treat Casandra and Dreamz like crap... for no reason.

I feel soooooooo bad for the people in the Ravu tribe, except for the two stupid girls but at least the Asian one tries and she isn't hateful to people. Rita is another story! It's terrible to watch this war of attrition. Moto acts like they're staight up bad asses because they're winning the challenges but how hard can it be to beat people who are starving? I could NEVERRRRRRRR go do something like that! I'm terrified of spiders, bugs, rodents and snakes. I DO mean terrified! Nope, I'll just watch it on tv.

But seriously, this game is too cruel to watch this season. Hopefully, things change soon for Ravu.

Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!

First...

When I got out of the shower a few minutes ago, this is what I found. Ryan stayed home from school today with a migraine. Anytime Craig goes out of town Ryan sleeps in my bed. Anytime Craig isn't IN my bed, Woody is. Only this time he even pulled the covers up over himself! LOL

The drive to find a new dress for prom has taken a left turn. Ryan is driving me NUTS!!! Austin and Ryan are both SO hard to take shopping... I can't stand it. So Ryan got SO frustrated shopping this weekend because every single thing we found was too short, (She's just over 6'1 in her bare feet) so she decided she was going to just wear last year's dress. WHAT? No way. I wasn't going to do that at all.

So last night after she got home from track practice Ryan went and got the dress bags out of the extra closet and began going through all of the formals she has. I couldn't believe it when she started trying them on- luckily she wasn't sweaty (but she was pretty rough looking!) She started off in a bad mood but within just a few minutes we were giggling and laughing, though I can't for the life of me remember what we were laughing at.

Two of her choices were dresses she wore to Bass Hall (to see the Nutcracker) in 6th and 7th grades... oh yeah, and last year's dress. They ALL still fit but these were the three she decided to choose from. They're all floor length but the blue one and the red one are only long enough if she wears flats. The black one she can wear heels with.

This is her dress from 6th grade. It is kind of plain, but it matches her eyes and is very pretty on her. Ryan prom dresses 002.jpg

This dress is from 7th grade. You can't really tell in the picture but it has some bead work that goes across the bodice and then to the bottom at an angle.

I love the back of this dress!

And here is last year's prom dress. We got this two peice dress at Davids bridal and I've been encouraging her to go get a new top for it (They've got SO many choices and colors) This is a horrible picture- but the dress is really pretty

Oh No

Ryan got two exciting offers yesterday. Ath!etes International has invited her to join the basketball team going to Australia this summer. Don't know yet if she will because her summer is VERY busy with her regular AAU team. She also received a request to profile in a track and field magazine as one of the top athletes from Texas. There is also a request from the Junior Commision of USA Track and Field to keep her in the loop so that she can try out for one of the National Teams going to the Pan Am Junior Championship in Fortaleza, Brazil this summer. Awesome! Her coach gave her the requests yesterday after track practice because it had been mailed to the track coach at school. She's really excited about that. Enough about Ryan... on to me.

Today I have to go to the dentist... again. They are finishing up one root canal (hopefully!!! They have been unable to keep my numb due to the infection so it's taking forEVER!) and getting started on two more. I know, I know!! There were no obvious outward signs that there were cavities or anything... it just started hurting. I've had this trouble before- caused my some medicine I took as a kid damaging my teeth from the inside out. So while these two teeth look fine, they are not.

To top that off Jade has something going on with her. She's following me the way Woody does when his back is hurting... staying by my side non stop, regardless of where I go. Craig is taking off work at noon today to spend the day with me. He flies to Nashville (I think) later tonight so we were going to spend the day together but now it appears that Jade will be going to the vet. It's hard for me to think of her hurting because she is just the sweetest dog. She tore her ACL last fall but we haven't had it operated on because it only hurts her at certain times and it's hardly ever for more than a day, so the vet advised us to wait. Woody will be 8 this September (born the day before Craig and I got married) and Jade will be 6 next month. They're both Labs, putting them around the upper-middle of the life expectancy list. It was TERRIBLE when Whiskey died so thinking of them dying too is just too much. Therefore, I won't.

Dental appointments are much better to think about.

Worry-free Weekend

Craig and I had a very nice day/night yesterday. We slept in after a VERY late night on Friday and that brought about the only negative for the day; we missed Ryan's first track meet of the season. I know, I know!! It's terrible but we were exhausted! Plus, since her basketball team was in the playoffs she didn't get to start a month ago like the rest of the girls so we assumed (incorrectly) that she'd get off to a slow start. Instead, she won her event... with a jump equal to her second best last year! She didn't even miss at all until she had to clear 5'6 and all the other girls were out at 5'4. I rarely miss any events but I was just so tired!!

So when Craig and I got up we went and picked up my neice. I haven't kept her in 3 weeks and she's gotten HUGE!!! She's 6 months old now and just the sweetest little thing! Craig took me to eat at Pei Wei where she just babbled and laughed the entire time. Then we went over to Babies R Us where Uncle Craig picked up a few items for her. He is too cute with her!! Her picked her up a cute little jacket- and then ever so gently put it on her. Then we came home and he played with her while I was getting stuff done. Maybe next time I'll break out the video camera.

So today I've got to take Ryan to look for prom dresses. She has a closet full of formals from various events and Craig wondered (aloud- big mistake! LOL) why she can't start recycling one of those. Oh no he di-int! LOL Seriously, men just don't seem to understand why women can't just wear a formal again. Well, you CAN wear them again... as long as you're going to an event whose guests could not possibly have seen you wear it at ANOTHER event. (Anyone need a women's formal in sizes 6 or 8? I've got several!!)

Alright, I'm off to Starbucks for coffee and banana nut bread. Ciao!

Whaaaaaaaaaaat?

So we've been waiting to hear the announcement for the All District teams but our coach has been holding out, not telling anyone who made the list. We figured Ryan wouldn't be on ANY list because she had to miss those 6 games. She was STILL the 5 highest scorer even though she missed those games.

She made 2nd team All District her freshman year (missed Newcomer of the Year award by slim margin) and made First Team All District last year. I was SHOCKED tonight when surfing the net (Googling her name with Crowley Basketball) and found a newspaper article from a neighboring town. It's certainly more than we expected.

I can't help but feel bad for her though. Even though she's going to be excited about it because we all just KNEW she'd be out... I still think she deserved better. The ONE other girl from our team who made First Team shouldn't have made it. She was only the 15th best scorer in the district and she plays NO defense, but she has a great outside shot so I guess that is what did it. Oh well... I guess I should say "Yay!"
