I had quite an enjoyable daying hanging out with and talking to Jamie. We laughed our asses off and made some devious plans for the summer. Let's just say that Thelma and Louise ain't got nuttin on us!!!

So tomorrow Ryan jumps in the Regional Qualifying meet. She doesn't really have to compete in this one, she's already qualified for the Regional meet but this one lets her jump against the 5A schools as well as the smaller 4A (we're 4A) too. She's ranked #1 against 4A and ranked #2 against 5A, which totally blows me away. But she's been pretty inconsistent with her jumps so I don't know what to expect. I think I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Then next weekend is the Regional meet. If she places 1st or 2nd she'll be headed to state. Like I said, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm starting to feel more like myself these days. Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it's spending time talking with Jamie. Maybe it's all the kinky sex with my husband..... who knows, but I like it! kdgr

I'm awake. Gawdddddddddddd. Hopefully I'll be back to sleep soon. I don't even have anything to read because i just finished reading Missing Persons by Stephen White. Pretty good book. Interesting and kept a good pace. More importantly, CRAIG read a novel!!! I'm so proud of him. I had been telling him for about two years to read the DaVinci Code and when all of the hubub came out about Dan Brown, Craig decided to go ahead and read it. He had never finished a novel on his own before and he couldn't put this one down. I'm really proud of him. Now he wants to read Angels and Demons which, in my opinion isn't as good, but still a great read.

I've got rooms full of books around here and now I think he's going to start looking at some of the ones I've got and see if there are any he'd like to read. I could see it on his face today... he was CRAVING it, and I loved it. I read 3 to 4 books a week. And I'd go nuts if I couldn't read. It's my escape.

Craig leaves for Austin this morning but he'll be home tonight. He's got so much traveling to do in the near future. He stayed home Tuesday and yesterday just to help out around here. The 22 trees in the front yard needed to be cut back BADLY and he got almost ALL of that done, so now I need to call a tree company and have them come out and bring one of those chipper things to chop up all the branches because there are PLENTY of them. Plus, we still have two dead trees out back that need to be added to it. Then I have to call a fence company to come out and put up a stockade fence around the property. I think it will really improve the look of the property alot.

Going back to bed now! night night!

I stole an idea from another blog for this and I'd like to see what people say.

The idea is to name six weird things about yourself. This shouldn't be hard for me since I am, after all, weird. But I'd like to add to it by requesting that anyone who comments on it, as well as myself, also add 6 strange things about people they know, leaving off their names of course.

So, here goes: 1) It drives me NUTS when people use the wrong word in a sentence, whether typed or spoken. For instance, people who say I "thrive to do such and such..." instead of "strive." Or, "My garden srives on Miracle Grow." NO, it thrives on it!" Drives me NUTS! I'm not talking about typos here. Typos happen. I'm talking about habitual offenders. Or people who use "then" when they should use "than". ACK!!!

2) Dirty feet. I can't stand them. They're gross and disgusting. If I walk outside to get the mail and I happen to be barefooted, I will wash off my feet before I go through my house. Can't stand it. Can't stand to see my kids walking around in bare socks either. Dirty socks disgust me, too.

3) It's not uncommon for me to take at least two showers a day. I ALWAYS take a bath before I go to bed. It relaxes me and I love to soak, plus I can't stand to go to bed dirty. ( I rinse off quickly before I bathe) I almost always shower in the mornings, too. I know... stange.

4) I will NOT eat leftover food. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only exceptions to the rule. I can't do it. Just can't. Don't have a clue why.

5) I have claustrophobia. Severely. I'll leave it at that except to say that when it feels like the world is closing in on me I go into my room and shut the door and don't come out. When that stops working, I get into my truck, usually late at night, roll down the windows and drive down the freeway as fast as I can with the music as loud as I can for a few hours and that seems to get me past the worst part.

6) The weirdest thing about me is that I am amost 40 years old and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

This was in the paper today. It's not that great because once again I didn't scan it in, I just took a picture of it with my digital camera.

This isn't the record setting jump, this is a week later where she took third, only clearing 5ft 2inches again but this is actually far better form than she showed in the previous meet and this is a great picture taken by Tom Beasley, for the Crowley Star. My post doesn't do his picture justice, but he did a great job on it! kdgr

I forgot to give the hubby credit...

He came home from Florida yesterday and surprised me. We had been talking on the phone the night before and I guess he actually listened as I was telling him about the perfume I MUST have. It's the new Armani and it is To. Die. For.
I'm talking, WOW... I love it. I love it even more that he HEARD me, he remembered what it was the FIRST time I said it. And I love even more that there was a box of Nyquil in the bag with it. I've been sick as a dog. I'm not sure which gift was sweeter! lol

The last week or two

4-11-06

The last couple of weeks have gone by in a hurry. Top it off with me being very sick with some upper respiratory infection (those ALWAYS trigger my panic attacks, so it's been fun) along with some very exciting events in our house and it makes for a big jumbled up mess.

I don't know how long its been since I've blogged, but the last thing I REMEMBER blogging about was my trip to see DeMarcus. Alot has happened since then, but only a few things are blog worthy.

First, Kyra made National Honor Society!!! We're really proud of her for her work at school and if we can get her to keep up the work she's been doing here at home, she'll be home free! She's been doing better, not great, but better and thats really all I'm looking for right now. Every little bit counts. Things are still touch and go with her mom, but she's still trying.

Two weeks ago Ryan broke the school and relay record for the hi-jump. She didn't just break it a little, she SHATTERED it. The old record of 5ft 3 inches was set in 1993. She won the meet with a jump of 5ft 8inches. Her previous best was only 5ft 2inches, though she'd still been winning most of her meets. I'll scan in the picture of her that was in the paper... it's a great picture and way better than any I took.

Then, it was time for the basketball banquet. Ryan made the District 15-4A First Team All District Team and won the award for the most rebounds.

Then, the next weekend (April 1st) was prom weekend. DeMarcus was in town for a trackmeet but he was jumping at 4 and Ryan was leaving for prom at 6:30 so that was a bust. But we got to spend the morning and early afternoon with him so I was happy. Of course I cried when I left, and I've got to learn not to do that, especially when he has to go directly to his event. My heart just hurts for him and I can't help it.
Then it was time for Ryan to get ready for prom. She had a great time and her date, KC, was a true gentleman. He looked great in his tux (black, with a silver vest) and they looked wonderful together. They've been close friends for two years but that's about it. Friends. She's got her eyes on someone else and has for a loooooooooooooooong time.

I would post pics but when I try to edit the sizes of them for some reason it doesn't edit the actual size of the picture it only shows a corner of it or something. Blah. kdgr
