My Return

8-28-05 6:47am

I woke up early this morning, I guess because I fell asleep early last night. Craig and I both started feeling bad yesterday and neither of us are sure what caused it.

There has been SO much going on around here lately! Last Thursday, Austin had the second surgery on his hand. They took the cast off on Thursday morning and his hand looks gross! He's cut from the knuckly of his ring finger almost all the way to his wrist. The stitches come off next Thursday, but he has classes that day so I'm not sure how we're going to pull this off. We took him on Friday to move into his dorm room. Three of his friends, as well as their mothers, all caravaned out there with us and then we all had lunch together at Montana's. We really like his friends... in fact, when we pulled into the parking lot Craig dropped me off near the door while he went to park. As I was standing there waiting on everyone to get there, I hear "HEY MOM!" It was another of Austin's friends who'd gotten there the day before. I guess there are about 15 Crowley kids going to Tarleton, so it ought to be fun for them.

Austin has decided to join a fraternity, so we'll see how that goes. He went to a party of Friday night and the police raided it to catch the underage drinkers. Several people got arrested... n ot Austin. Though he has drank, and I suspect he will again, he says he's too worried about getting in trouble. Tarleton is a dry campus and they have a zero tolerance policy about it, so he's not in any hurry... for now.

Ryan was finally released from the doctor after having surgery on her foot. It's still sore (its only been 4 weeks since the surgery) but she played in the volleyball game on Tuesday and did quite well. She had the best stats on the team for kills and blocks, but she's struggling with her serving. She's never been great at serving, or even playing the back row at all for that matter. She's got a basketball tournament the first weekend in October. I can't believe it's already starting back up. It's never ending, really.

Kyra appears to be doing much better. The month spent with Craig's mom and dad seems to have benefitted her greatly. She still seems very immature for her age, but maybe it's just "her". I don't know. We took her and Ryan to buy jeans the other night... just jeans... and ended up spending $275. What the hell? They each got two pair and Ryan got a cute little pair of flats. How the hell did they cost that much? Sheesh..

I've got an appointment this week with Dr. Toledo. I guess I'll be having the surgery to fix my hand pretty quickly. When I broke it last year, the doc that put the pin in it left my hand flat while in the cast, so now the tendons have a contracture so I can't make a fist. They'll do the tendon lengthening surgery, then I'll be getting my tummy tuck/hernia repair surgery. Lastly, I'm getting a breast reduction/lift... that's the one I can't WAIT for!

Jesse, our "adopted" soldier in Iraq, has said that the fighting is getting bad. I worry alot about him. He's got a wife and 2 kids so I can only imagine how hard it is on him, and all the other soldiers, to be so far from their loved ones. I send him care packages and we email back and forth quite a bit. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. He's going to school to become a physician's assitant when he gets back. I sent him a disposable camera and he sent it back yesterday. Here is the link to the pics he took if you're interested in seeing Iraq. The website appears to be down right now, but should be back up later. The pics are pretty interesting, if you ask me!

Not much else going on around here. I've really enjoyed spending time with Craig the last few days. I always feel closer to him when we spend time like this. He'd buy me anything, do anything for me... and in return he only asks for my love. I'm not worthy of such devotion, but it means so much to me to have a man like him to spend my life with. I don't deserve him, but I'm keeping him! LOL

Alright, I'm headed back to bed. My stomach still hurts badly, causing my head to throb even more. G'night! kdgr

There is so much to tell, but I'm still not feeling well and I'm exhausted on top of that.

Ryan had her surgery last Friday and is doing well. Austin had to meet with the orthopedic surgeon later that day, who decided that Austin had also torn a tendon in his finger and would need further surgery. X-rays tell a different story. Somehow, and the docs can't figure out how, the bone of his ring finger has fused together between the finger and where the finger meets the hand. The doctor says he has never seen anything like it. Then, later that day it was my turn to hit the hospital. Suffice it to say, it has to be BAD to make me stay.

Tomorrow Austin goes back to the orthopedic surgeon to set a surgery date. Ryan goes to the doc on Tuesday morning for a follow up after her surgery. But my favorite day will be next Tuesday when I face their sperm donor in court. He's not good enough to be called a dad.

So this is the past 10 days for me in a nutshell. I'll elaborate more tomorrow. I gotta go back to bed! night kdgr
