I Didn't Cry THAT Much!
Well, I survived it. I am so exhausted today from the whole thing yesterday plus the emotional buildup just sapped my energy and today we're still working on the house.
So here's how it all went down yesterday. Ryan and I waited for Craig to get home from the golf course and he actually made it back by noon, so he loaded up the car then took a super quick shower and we were off. It's only about a 45minute drive from Crowley to Denton to we got there about 1:30. I only cried when we were about 10 minutes from Denton. See, we use a Monster cable and play my lpod through the stereo rather than listening to cds. I've got a 6 disc cd changer but it can't compete with 400 songs on the lpod. Anyway, that Trace Adkin's song You're Gonna Miss This came on and no matter how hard I tried I could NOT contain the tears. I think Ryan knew but she just reached to the front of the truck and patted my arm. I love that song but it just hits you right there. Ya know?
I think I got it under control about the time we pulled onto the campus.

The outside of her dorm is quite nice, I think. They got the new co-ed dorms just across from the basketball facility.

Ryan's roomie is from Houston so she moved in on Friday (which brought about Ryan moving in a week early) but I guess that's a good idea because they have a week to aclimate themselves to the campus, but their athletic workouts start tomorrow at 6am with a 2 mile run, then weightlifting in the afternoons with the trainers.
Her room mate's name is Mansa and she's a real sweetheart! We met her last year on a recruiting visit and we were so thrilled when we found out that she'd be Ryan's roommate.
Here's the pic of what it looks like when you walk into their dorm room. You enter into a kitchenette and dining area (with an attached bathroom for them to share) and in front of you are their two doors.

We just bought cheap plastic plates, bowls, cups and silverware from the T@rget $1 Spot. Not disposable, but not that far from it either. We also got them a burner, a coffee pot and a ton of food (even though they get three meals plus two snacks a day for free from their scholarships) but it was fun putting it all together. (Again, all that color!) I hope they're not hating what we put in there!

Mansa's room is all about cool and calm colors... like her personality. She's pretty laid back while still being very social. She managed to get her pictures hung up on Friday but Ryan won't get her's done until probably Wednesday or so. Pathetic!
I cropped out most of Mansa's room to preserve her privacy, but look behind them and you'll see the blue comforter. Her room is all soothing colors. Cool and calm. I really love Mansa in this pic but Ryan looks... wrong.

Both of the girls brought some of their senior posters (of themselves!! So much for humility, right?) and Ryan hung her favorite one (of her) on the outside of her bedroom door.

Now, you'll see Ryan's room. Good Lord its a riot of bright colors so I'm thinking she's gonna love it or hate it because she's got headaches from it or something!

After we got everything put away (which didn't take long at all) we ran with the girls to T@rget to get a few of the things we didn't plan for and they got some really cute stuff. Since they share a shower and toilet area ( I will NOT be taking pictures of that, thank you!) we let them pick out stuff for that room together and they were both totally on the same page.
Yari, my favorite Puerto Rican point guard on the team (she's the only one, but she's still my fav) came over to see Craig and I before we left the campus. She'll be a senior this year but is really having some injury issues so please keep your fingers crossed for her! (she calls me Mom, and I seriously adore this girl!)

We decided to get out of there and let them start their evening hanging out with the team. Love that whole built-in friend thing! On the way home and cold front moved in rather quickly taking the temp from 102 all the way down to 85 in just about 20 minutes. The clouds were AWESOME. This is what the sky looked like as we pulled into Crowley, about two miles from my house.

And it intensified by the time we pulled into the driveway.

My mom called to see how everything went and then asked me if I cried. I hadn't cried all the way home but as soon as I tried to answer her my throat slammed shut and I felt like I couldn't breathe but I got myself in check real quick and didn't cry again... until Ryan called me to say she was going to bed and for me not to miss her too much. Then, when she hung up I bawled for about 2 minutes and I was fine. I didn't cry again until I was putting the song on here and then of course I'm trying to type through the tears. Ugh, enough already!
So anyway, it all went really smooth and I'm happy for her. She'll be wearing the 00 basketball jersey this year and has even already been fitted for her track suit. I really am hoping for a great year for her... for all of them. Hell, for everybody!!!

Now I'm crying. I feel like I've gone through all of this with you! I know, I'm the queen of inappropriate emotion... lol Seriously though, she's going to be terrific and so are you. Hell, you both already are.

I have to say, she looks so happy and while I really wanted her to end up here in Oregon, she looks like she belongs exactly where she is.
