Blah blah blah
Well, we've had a fantastic few days around here. Everyone is really excited about Ryan winning gold... but NO ONE is as excited as Kyra. It's really cute to see her get so worked up about stuff like that. When we showed her the newscast with Ryan leading off she damn near pooped her pants.
Oh, speaking of all that... Check THIS out. This girl won the state 1-A TEAM title all by herself. THAT is amazing!
So Ryan has decided to accept the invitation to the National Invitational during the first weekend in June. We've got to find some place for her to practice because the school starts putting all the track equipment away this week, but I'm hoping they will wait two weeks to do it once we request it. Ryan's track coaches go way beyond the call of duty for these kids so maybe there's a chance.
When I told Kyra that we were going to New Mexico next month and that we'd really like to see her visit her mom and step-dad she started hem-hawing around and said she "didn't think she was ready." Uggh, I don't know what more those people have to do to get Kyra to move on. I mean, she's more than welcome to go with us to NM but the relationship that she has with her mother is NOT going to get better if Kyra doesn't make some effort. I asked her last night what she thought would work (I was trying to get her to say that making one or two phone calls a week would be nice) and she said she thought she should email every couple of weeks. Great. At that rate, she and her mother will probably start having a better relationship about the time Kyra's first grandchild arrives. Oh well, what can I do? I've really given it my all but until Kyra starts giving it HER all, nothing will change.
In other news: I had to have a tooth pulled yesterday and I'm not sure that it hurts any less today. I had a root canal on it about 15 months ago but they didn't put a crown on it yet because it was still pretty sore. About 5 months ago it became clear that I was either going to have to go to an endodontist to have my root canal re-done, or I was going to have to have it pulled. (Thank God its a back tooth!) Well, I finally went and did it yesterday because it was killing me, and the infection was so bad that I was bawling. Today, it still hurts but I'm guessing that as it drains it will stop. If not, I'm ready to just knock out all my teeth. In the last two years I have spent well over $10k on my teeth. They are very soft and just really easily ruined. All of my top teeth now have crowns and root canals, but my bottom teeth are mostly fine. I'm just tired of hurting.
