Crap, That Hurts!!
I had the rhyzotomy on the left side today. NO ANESTHESIA!! When they did it on my right side a couple of months ago, they gave me 2 of versed (for the epidural injections it takes 5 of versed and 10 prop) so I do sort of remember it, it's not all clear. I remember him starting and then I remember being in the recovery room. This procedure you have to be "awake" for because you have to be able to tell him when you feel things because they don't want to kill the wrong nerves.
So today he convinced me to do it with nothing. I knew it would hurt, but I don't think I expected it to be that bad. (They stick a needle in to several areas of your back and when its on the nerve they heat the needle up to kill the nerve. When it's done, they go a little deeper, then do it again a third time- in three different spots on my back) At one point I was shaking so bad they had to stop. Right now I'm in a fairly significant amount of pain. I still had alot of pain medicine from my surgery last month so I took some of that but all it did was knock me out for a couple of hours.
The last time I did this I hurt pretty bad for four or five days, but this time I don't have four or five days so I'm hoping that I'll just be focused on other things than hurting. I went to my pcp yesterday and he said the blood clot in my arm isn't such a big deail because its on a peripheral vein. Its pretty much what I thought but with all that's going on with Jamie I just wanted to make sure.
I feel so bad for Craig right now. When we come back from Tahoe on Sunday he has to repack and leave on a 6am flight Monday morning to Phoenix for two days, then to Baltimore for one. Then he comes home and we head to San Antonio and when we get back he'll be hitting the road again and it looks like he could be traveling most of May trying to get all of their offices set with the new guidelines. The upside in that he's a Platinum member now so he gets double miles.
Last night I decided to try and make fried rice with chicken. It's not that I thought it would be hard to make (its not) but I wasn't sure that I could get the actual flavors right. I looked up a couple of different recipes online and just sort of used those to come up with my own. If I do say so myself, it was pretty awesome. Craig had a golf thing last night so he didn't get home until after 7pm, but he scarffed it down. Now don't get me wrong, Craig would NEVER complain about something that anyone took the time to make. He's just not like that, but I felt really good that I made something new for him (and the kids) that they really liked. Sometimes it takes a couple of times making something to get the flavor right.
I really started missing cooking and I've been in overdrive for the last couple of months, making up for lost time. I don't remember why I stopped cooking every night, other than it seemed like we were never home. I used to LOVE cooking and making big meals so its been fairly easy to fall back into that pattern. Hopefully, it'll continue.
