Yay!
We got the go-ahead for Rhode Island today. Yippeeeeeeeeeeee! AND we're going to the gala so that means SHOPPING for new clothes. Oh how I love my husband's job!
Last year when we went we stayed at a B&B. I'm totally over it. Bring on the Anatole or something. We stayed in New Port last year but everything (except the gala) was in Providence. This year the whole thing is in Providence so that means, you guessed it, MORE SHOPPING.
5 days, expenses paid, shopping and (for Craig) golf. It doesn't get better than that (except maybe Tahoe this weekend!)
I started a new book yesterday by Jodi Picoult and it is fantastic. Mindlessly heartbreaking but it's one of those books that makes you stop and think... about everything. It just tears you up inside reading the words but always feel like someone's talking to you. It's written so well that you clearly understand each person's point of view. This 13 y/o llittle girl was conceived for the sole purpose of providing bone marrow and organ transplants to help rid the sister of leukemia but it begines to look like she's had enough because she hires an attorney to help her make her parents stop forcing her to go through procedures for her sister's benefit. (Stop reading here if you don't want to know some things about the story- but even if you read this the book is good enough that it won't matter that you saw it coming) She finally wins the court case and leaves the couthouse with her attorney and they are involved in a car accident, during which.... Anna dies.
The true irony turns out to be that the sister (Kate) had asked Anna (main character) to make it all stop because she was miserable that every day of her life, even the good ones. she and her family were always waiting for the other shoe to drop. When Anna dies they go ahead and donate her kidneys to Kate, who then slips into remission and ends up doing well. I cried all through this book and if you have a chance I urge you to read it.
I've also read 19 Minutes and a Change of Heart. 19 minutes was soooooooooooooooo good and you can totally see where this kids starts messing up. Its just too much sadness. while you're silently thanking God that the bad stuff isn't happening to you.
I've also read The Secret Between Us. Good, but not as good as the other two.
You can find her books on Amazon and it's well worth every penny you spend and every single tear you will shed.
