They're FINALLY Ready To Settle

Thank the Lord above... my insurance company is ready to settle. Seven and a half years ago I hurt my neck and shoulder while at work. I was managing a store front payday loan company and was changing a lightbulb above my desk. It wasn't out of my job description. There were only two of us that worked there and my employee had left to run an errand so I got out the ladder and started to change it. As I reached up towards the light I realized that I was not willing to reach up that high so I started to step down. The heel of my pump caught in the hem of my skirt and I fell from the 3rd rung of the ladder with my feet still up on that rung. (by the time I hit the ground they weren't still there, but I said that so you can imagine the angle at which I fell)

My head didn't hit the ground but as my ass DID hit the ground my neck snapped back and I don't remember anything from that time until the time my husband was standing along with my employee in front of me. He had called Craig after calling for an amulance (which I turned down! How embarrassing!) So my husband took me to the doctor and the madness began.

I haven't been able to work since then because I couldn't sit long enough, or stand long enough without becoming miserable within about 30 minutes. My treatment finally reached a point where I stopped getting better, so it changes then to permanent disability. I haven't pushed getting to this point with the insurance company because, well, I don't know why. I stopped getting temporary disability over two years ago so now all that's left to do is settle the permanent disability, which the state of California sets the percentage.

I finally turned in all that paperwork last month to the insurance company. They are ready to pony up the cash, which I have to admit is nice. Cash is always good... and the settlement is tax free! Yay!
