Taking the High Road

We went to Ryan's basketball game last night. Of course, she isn't playing and we already knew they couldn't suit up, sit on the bench or even be on the court so that wasn't a shock. When her team first came out on the floor her eyes filled with tears and it nearly broke my heart for her.

When the athletic director for the school district asked her what happened she said, "I just didn't take care of my business" and left it at that. I was SO proud of her for that. Mr. Lincoln (the AD) said, "I've never had an athlete fail and just own up to it so I'm really proud of you." She has always had a wonderful relationship with him because he was her assistant principal in 7th and 8th grade. So that part was nice. And the team won-just barely- over a team they should have killed. So I'm very worried about them for the next couple of games because they've got the two toughest teams coming up. We're still in 1st right now and we've got a two game lead so they should still make the playoffs when it's all said and done.

Craig and I came home from the game and went straight to bed. We just woke up 30 minutes ago (at 1:30pm) because we've been so stressed out over all of this that we weren't sleeping well at all... especially him. He's very protective of her and it's been driving him nuts that the school is "ok" with her whole English class getting crapped on.
