A Major Sigh of Relief
No, it's not the one I wanted but it may be just as important (if not, more!). We went to the game of one of the universities that is recruiting Ryan (as their guest) tonight. It was quite nice to get to the Will Call window to pick up our tickets (under Ryan's name- she loved that) and when we went to find our seats, they'd sat her in Row A, seats 1-3 of their section for recruits.
As soon as we came through the archway and headed to the steps leading down to our seats the assistant coach saw us (I didn't know she knew what we looked like, but we noticed her) and had made it around to our seats by the time we'd gotten there.
After the game they took Ryan into the locker room to meet the players. When they came back out the head coach was right behind them and we all spent the next hour talking. They want Ryan, they made it clear. They want her to check out all the other schools that she wants to because they want her to be sure she wants to come there. (She's leaning that way even though she's being recruited by some big universities)
Anyway, after we got a little ways into "the talk" with the head coach, she mentioned their academics. My heart almost stopped right there even though Craig and I had decided to go ahead and tell the coaches at this university what has gone on with her. Not the whole story, just that she failed because that's all that really matters-AND that she'll be off the court for 3 weeks. Even though they knew it still scared the hell out of me, but it gave us a chance to discuss it more and since this is something that has NEVER happened with her before it's not an issue because she didn't fail the semester (just the 6 weeks).
So all is well other than us missing out on going to the games. We could still go but it'd be way too hard (at least at this point) to go to the games. Maybe by Tuesday's game we'll be ready. I'm sure we will.

Actually this could be a good wake-up call for Ryan. She'll see what could have/will happen if she doesn't take care of her grades as well as the sports. Sure this was mostly her teacher's fault, but she should be more aware of what is happening academically and not let it get to this point. And it is better to happen now then in the next couple of years. A silver lining?
