KG's Hideaway

Before I tell you this story, I probably need to note that Thursday night after all of this went down, I made a pact with God that I'd really try to quit cussing if he'd work all this out. I don't know if it's going to work out or not but I do wonder if it counts when you just TYPE the cuss words as opposed to SAYING them. Also, God already started working on this because we thought the cause of the problem was one thing and that was something we couldn't do anything about, but Friday we found out it was what I wrote about below and we can TOTALLY do something about that, so I guess I need to make a good effort. Hmmm....

All teachers don't suck but I don't mind telling you that my daughter's English III teacher does. When report cards came out on Thursday, Ryan had a 58 for a grade. A 58? How the HELL do you get a 58? A teacher screws you over, that's how. So here's how it happened:

A week before Christmas break we met with Ryan's physics teacher and her counselor. Her physics teacher is great and was doing everything she could to help Ryan, and though I was terribly agitated over the whole thing I greatly apreciated her help. While we were in the counselor's office her physics teacher told us that she was failing English. WTF?

First off, why the hell is the physics teacher teacher telling us about it and why the hell am I finding out about it a week before the six weeks (end of the reporting period) ends? So I have Ryan start taking a spiral notebook to each of her classes and the teachers sign off on her work each day, noting that she's turned in everything and it gives them the opportunity to tell me anything and know that I've seen it because I sign it each night. (pretty much like a kindergartner, I know.)

So report cards come out Thursday and obviously I'm upset about the 58. OBVIOUSLY. Not just because of the bad grade but because it sidelines her from basketball for 3 weeks. 6 games. But the bad grade can be catastrophic at this point. So I email the teacher to find out why and she responds that Ryan has a ZERO for a test grade because she didn't turn a dialectical journal in. EXCUSE ME??????????? Care to share why you signed the notebook saying she DID turn them in then?

To top it off, she told Ryan's coach that she failed Ryan because of her research paper, however in that same email she gave me Ryan's grade for it and it was okay so I'm not sure what she's referring to. I'm beyond pissed right now. BEYOND! She was allowed to play last night and she'll be allowed to play on Tuesday. We have a meeting with the head of the English dept on Monday and if this isn't resolved then she's done until the last week of the season.

I swear, I'm going to go apeshit if they side with the teacher on this. I mean, what the hell more can a parent do, short of going to school with their child (which I did to Austin- just to prove a point), to help the teacher help their child only to have it do absolutely no good???? Uh huh.

So for now I have to bide my time and try not to stress. Yeah, sure thing. The worst part is that they may not even make a decision on Monday. No telling how long it could take. I'm not good at waiting... at all. I'm more of an immediate gratification kinda girl. That's surprising, isn't it? ;=)

Other than this bullshit, Ryan's grades were great. Kyra's grades were great as usual. And Austin's should start his new job on Tuesday. Thank God. I was ready to toss his ass to the curb!! (okay not really, but he was getting on my nerves!!!)

Ryan Green made nine of 14 shots for 19 points, and point guard Ashley Stamp had a season-high seven rebounds for Crowley. "Our whole district is like this," Crowley coach Alan Neff said. "It's a fairly even district."
